The journey begins

Updated: Sep 10, 2020

The first step is always the hardest to take. It's also the most exciting.

For the last 15 years, I've worked in communications. Amassing wide experience across the ever-changing fields of PR and strategic marketing, I've been very blessed in many ways.

I've had the opportunity to work with some truly fantastic brands: household names and global players in the technology, food and drink and healthcare sectors, to name but a few.

I've had the chance to drive engaging publicity campaigns, create insightful thought leadership activity, and bring numerous new products to market. I've managed and directed communications programs alongside some fantastic marketers, publicists and colleagues.

I've been challenged. I've been stretched. I've been inspired.

The companies that I've worked with over the years have been diverse. They have had differing objectives and expectations of communications and the value that it can bring. They have also been hugely appreciative of communications activity delivered well.

It's been through having direct connections with - and working closely alongside - many CEOs, MDs and company founders over the years that I've been struck, time and again, by just how many good people there are in this world. Individuals who genuinely want to use their businesses to make the world a little better for the next generation.

“Throughout my career, I've been drawn towards inspiring business leaders who have looked to make a genuine difference. It's no accident that I've gravitated towards them. That's my goal too.”

In each and every one of these conversations and encounters, I've been impressed and motivated by these business leaders' clear vision and purpose. It's contagious.

And now, with the launch of Second Mountain Communications, my very own boutique comms consultancy, I have now also become a business owner with a clear vision and purpose.

Second Mountain Communications aims to support authentic, ethical, purpose-driven businesses. Helping good firms and business leaders do good, by sharing their values and accomplishments. That's our mission.

It's a vision I've had for a long time - and now, today, it becomes a reality.

The first step up the Second Mountain of my career, and my life, begins right now. Today.

I'm ready for it.
